In 1975, the NorCal Insulator Club became the first insulator club to be founded in California. Later, in 1991, the Central & Southern Counties Insulator Club was founded to cover the lower portion of the Golden State. In 2007, both clubs joined together to form the singular Golden State Insulator Club of California.

The Golden State Insulator Club logo was designed by Alice Shumaker and finalized by Christian Willis. The logo pictures two insulators, a CD 120 C.E.W. in cobalt blue and a CD 260 California in purple. Both insulators were produced by different California glass companies. The CD 120 C.E.W. was originally used on the NorCal Insulator Club logo (shown at right), and the CD 260 California was used on the Central & Southern Counties Insulator Club logo (shown at right). Both insulators were used in the new club logo to reflect the two clubs coming together. In the background is the outline of the state of California in a golden yellow.
